THE ROLE

 

Job Summary: 

The Employee Success & Safety Coordinator is responsible for creating and sustaining a safe, engaging, and high-performing work environment by integrating Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), employee onboarding, training, mentoring, engagement, and retention initiatives. This role serves as a key partner to Operations, Human Resources, and Leadership to ensure employees not only work safely but also successfully transition into productive, confident, and engaged members of the organization.

 

This position champions a proactive safety culture while coordinating structured onboarding, employee development, and continuous improvement programs that support operational excellence and long-term workforce success.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety management, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience

    • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources, Employee Development, Training, Manufacturing Operations, or a related field.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Plant environment.  
  • Keyboarding, sitting, standing, bending, walking.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

Environmental Health & Safety

    • Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying workplace hazards and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Conduct documented safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and environmental evaluations.
    • Investigate workplace incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, audits, and incident reports.
    • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate new hire safety orientation, annual compliance training, and specialized safety programs.
    • Monitor compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
    • Support emergency preparedness initiatives, including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, and emergency response programs.
    • Partner with department leaders to improve workplace safety and reduce operational risk.

Employee Onboarding & Integration

    • Coordinate onboarding from offer acceptance through successful completion of the employee's first year.
    • Develop and administer structured onboarding plans for all new hires.
    • Ensure completion of orientation, safety training, compliance requirements, and departmental introductions.
    • Coordinate facility tours, team introductions, and mentor assignments.
    • Monitor onboarding progress and proactively address barriers to employee success.
    • Serve as the primary resource for new employees during their transition into the organization.

Training & Workforce Development

    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the organization's Training and Development Program.
    • Coordinate safety, quality, technical, leadership, and job-specific training.
    • Maintain employee training records, certifications, qualification matrices, and development plans.
    • Monitor employee competency progression and ensure completion of required training milestones.
    • Collaborate with supervisors to identify skill gaps and create employee development plans.
    • Support standardized work instructions and structured training methodologies.

Employee Success, Mentoring & Engagement

    • Coordinate the employee mentoring program by assigning mentors and establishing program expectations.
    • Conduct regular employee and mentor check-ins throughout the first year of employment.
    • Build strong relationships that foster employee engagement and belonging.
    • Conduct stay interviews, employee surveys, and engagement assessments.
    • Identify trends affecting employee morale, performance, and retention.
    • Recommend improvements to onboarding, training, communication, and employee experience initiatives.

Retention & Performance Support

    • Facilitate structured 30, 60, 90, 180, and 365-day employee progress reviews.
    • Develop and monitor employee success roadmaps and career development plans.
    • Identify employees at risk of disengagement or turnover and coordinate intervention plans with supervisors.
    • Assist employees in navigating company resources, career opportunities, and professional development.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

    • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, and Leadership to develop site-specific employee success and safety strategies.
    • Lead initiatives that improve organizational culture, employee engagement, and operational performance.
    • Support organizational change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Build strong cross-functional relationships that promote collaboration and accountability.
    • Utilize data and employee feedback to improve onboarding, safety performance, and employee retention
